Drunken Monkey
We were expecting better for the come back of the Shaw Brothers. This new Liu Chia-Liang's movie is not bad, but it looks old fashioned with very average directing, music and cinematography. Hopefully, the kung-fu part is still very convincing. It will surely please fans of old-school kung-fu, but also leave them without the taste of genuine SB movies.
Double Tap
Two recent movies are reviewed this week. The first one (
Happy Go Lucky) is dealing with handicapped persons, with some interesting points but Francois and Alain were not totally convinced. On the contrary,
Truth or Dare is much more convincing, and provides some good laughs. Francois also reviewed the DVD for the first of the two.
Venice Festival: Floating Landscape Special Edition, second part
To finish this special edition about the only Hong Kong movie selected at the Venice Festival, we add two interviews with two of the most promising young actors in Asia. The first one is Liu Ye, already seen in Lan Yu, who was interviewed by Alain in the car to the airport. The second one is Karena Lam, best supporting actress and young talent at the HK Award 2002, interviewed by Francois. Enjoy!
