DVD Duel to the Death
image
Very impressive image for such an old movie. All the lacks of the HK DVDs are not fixed. The 16/9 is sharp, with vivid colors, dark blacks and an excellent compression. Even more impressive, you have to look for dust to find some. The image is a bit cropped compared to the MEgastar DVD, but it's no big deal. Of course there are some defaults, but they are really rare compared to the other available images. The movie is slightly cut, with some missing frames at two moments (see our comparaison for caps).
sound
The original mono, nothing so great of course, but at least it's better than the remix from Megastar, and sounds better than the other mono from Deltamac. Fans of original mixings will be happy with this one. Fans of modern remix should consider the future Fox DVD.
subtitles
Excellent french subs.
special features
The usual package, the original trailer, with some pics, bios and filmos, plus an introduction to the movie by David Martinez. Not very impressive, but given the price, it's just what could be expected.
menus
Very impressive animated and musical menus. The main menu just looks great, with the main theme of the movie in background. The cover is also very nice looking.
quality/price ration
An excellent edition for this important Wu Xia Pian. The Megastar and Deltamac DVDs are far away from this edition, technically speaking. You will just have to read french to be able to see this movie on the best existing media so far. The Fox DVD expected at the end of the year could be a serious competitor for this DVD, but it will be difficult to beat it.
